Dengue Fever
Dengue is a viral fever transmitted through mosquito bites. The “Aedes” mosquito is responsible for this disease. The disease is very prevalent in tropical countries like ours. Dengue is characterized by sustained high-grade fever, pain around, inside or behind the eyes, vomiting, abdominal discomfort, diarrhoea, muscle aches and red rashes all over the body. There are two types of dengue: classic dengue and dengue hemorrhagic. In the first type of dengue recovery is most likely to occur more quickly. But in the second type of a decrease in platelet count can result in bleeding, organ failure and even death. There are no vaccines against it. That’s why prevention is crucial. The “Aedes” mosquito breeds in stagnant fresh water and rain water. So, we must be aware in keeping our household areas clean. We must not allow water to stagnate in flower pots, vase, tires and puddles. Besides, we must protect ourselves from mosquito-bites. So we should always wear protective clothing like pants, long sleeves and shocks. We have to use mosquito nets and mosquito-repellent. Recently in Bangladesh, a lot of people are affected by this harmful disease and most of them have already died. So, to be ensured about the disease, we must consult a doctor if any fever persists for days.
